Carlo DiStefano, MAAA, MAIBC, earned a diploma with a double major in Fine Arts and a Masters of Architecture both from the University of Calgary. He graduated in 1994 and began working in Calgary. He later moved to Montreal where he lived and worked for six years with Rubin and Rotman Associés and Fournier Gersovitz Moss & Associés Architectes. During his time there he was involved in projects in Quebec, Ontario and the United States working on project types that included Residential, Institutional, Commercial, Healthcare, Industrial and Restoration work.
Carlo returned to Calgary in 2003 and began working with Hutchinson Architects where his primary focus was the DOW Centennial Centre in Fort Saskatchewan Alberta. After working there for two years he left to start his own firm DiStefano Architecture. He has worked on many projects in Alberta since that time but it was the recently completed Prato Square project in Kelowna that lead to the relocation of the firm. Prato Square is a 144-unit rental complex in of which the first phase of construction was completed in 2009. This project’s success depended on clear communication with both the client and the City to achieve a quality project on time and on budget.
Carlo has a strong knowledge of both design and construction, leading numerous projects from schematic design to construction supervision. Carlo and DiStefano Architecture has a strong commitment and connection to Kelowna.
NEIL JAUD, MAIBC, MAAA, MRAIC, Leed AP
Neil Jaud, MAIBC, MAAA, MRAIC, Leed AP, has been working in the field or architecture and design since 1966.He has worked with numerous architecture firms in B.C. and Alberta including Arthur Erickson. He owned and operated his own design firm in Kelowna for seven years during which he sat on the Kelowna Advisory Design Committee as well as working and being involved in the development of single family homes, commercial renovations, office buildings, Multi Family housing as well as other project types. Deciding to pursue a professional degree attending the University of Calgary where he received his Masters of Architecture degree and was awarded first prize for his thesis project. He worked in Calgary for other firms for several years before again starting his own firm.
He has been LEED certified since 2004 and has worked on several recreational projects that were LEED certified as well as others that follow LEED principals. He is currently working on a private home that aims to reach a Platinum certification through LEED.
Neil has recently joined forces with DiStefano Architecture providing his vast experience and design skills while also acting as the Alberta representative for the firm.
Kyla DiStefano has over 10 year’s experience working in a sales and marketing environment and during that time period she has made great steps forward in her familiarity and knowledge in business development. She has extensive experience having worked on numerous proposal submissions at Fluor Canada which is one of the world’s leading publicly traded engineering, procurement, and construction and project management companies. She provides coordination and support of sales activities including production of qualification documents, proposals and presentations, marketing materials such as brochures and project profiles. She has a proven knowledge of what people are looking for and a keen understanding of how to effectively read the needs of clients and by doing so she has excellent client relationships.
Kyla is a true believer of giving back to the community and takes pride in DiStefano Architectures sponsorship of events and needs within Kelowna.
